Points to note when designing an injection molded rice cooker

Material selection: Common materials for rice cooker plastic shells include PP (polypropylene) and POM (polyoxymethylene). PP materials are widely used in lids, bases, support rings and other parts due to their temperature resistance; POM materials are often used for parts that need to move, such as buttons and push blocks for opening lids. In addition, modified polypropylene plastics are also widely used in rice cooker shells because they can maintain stable performance at high temperatures and have good mechanical properties and impact resistance.

 

Wall thickness structure design: Wall thickness is crucial for injection molded parts and is generally controlled between 2-3 mm. Too thin wall thickness will lead to low strength and stiffness, and difficult molding; while too thick wall thickness may cause shrinkage, high cost, and long molding time. For parts with higher stiffness and strength requirements, the wall thickness should be kept at 2.5 or 2.8 mm; for parts with general requirements, the wall thickness should be 2.2 mm; for parts without load, the wall thickness can be kept below 2 mm.

 

Draft angle structure design: Due to the process limitations of the molding of rice cooker injection molded parts, the draft angle must be included in the design.
